Sea Kayaking in Scotland, Canada, Croatia, Arctic Norway

Imagine kayaking along untouched coastlines and camping on remote Islands and beaches in Scotland, the Arctic Lofoten islands, the warm waters of the Dalmatian islands of Croatia or being right there amidst the wildlife of Canada.

All of our trip descriptions on this page will hopefully give you a flavour of what is surely the most unique wilderness activity allowing you to paddle away from it all and get closer to wildlife in a quiet, peaceful gliding kayak.

Our trips from our home base on Lochcarron are designed for beginners and entry level paddlers in the most sheltered area of the North West coast of Scotland and we run advanced courses and expeditions around Applecross and the Isle of Skye. We also offer longer, more challenging expeditions in Scotland and  overseas in Croatia, Canada and Arctic Norway.

Some info about our trips

Our Trips are designed  for beginner, intermediates and advanced paddlers and are progressive so as to allow you to develop your kayak experience with us starting with taster half days, weekend intros and beginner expedition adventure holidays leading on to intermediate/advanced Scottish and overseas expeditions. Or .. if you are attracted by our longer pack and paddle trips, and want to join these with less experience, then we can achieve this for you in a double kayak allowing younger, older or less experienced individuals access to every event we run.

Most trips have price levels to suit all needs:

‘Trip Only’ - you look after your own food and accommodation onshore or on overnight kayak camp days. On overnight camps you will need to bring camping stoves and food so as to be self sufficient - you can opt in to the catering on wild camp nights.

‘Full Inclusive Guest House’ - just turn up and we’ll look after you entirely. Enjoy local, homemade, fresh food and the comforts of the guest house where you can discuss the day in front of the fire!

'Applecross Hartfield House Hostel' - Stay in the old hunting lodge in Applecross Glen. Shared and private rooms available as well as self cater facilities or opt in to meals.

On 'Pack & Paddle' expeditions we also offer two price levels - self cater or fully catered. This allows people to bring their own cooking gear and food if preferred or opt for our expedition catering and leave all the organising to us.

All trip prices include your instructor/guide, equipment and local transport.

Leave No Trace . . . .  Mountain and Sea Guides ensures that all trips have no negative impact on the local environment. As well as learning to kayak we pride ourselves on providing sustainable tourism so we can maintain the beauty of the highlands, islands and all of the other areas we visit.
