Tigh Ruaraidh is a traditional but newly extended 4-bedroom house located 8 miles north of Applecross in the small township of Lonbain. With panoramic views across Inner Sound to Raasay and Rona, tranquil settings and a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of town life you will have the holiday you have been searching for.
There are both mountain walks, great sea and trout fishing and a beautiful sandy beach a couple of miles away.
Applecross
The village of Applecross has 3 restaurants worth a visit, The Applecross Walled Garden, run as a café by day and a fine restaurant by night, serving local produce and locally caught seafood.
Housed at the Applecross Campsite, The Broch Bar, serving hot soup and freshly baked filled rolls, a wide range of hand-spun stone baked pizza and a selection of fine wines.
Last but not least The Applecross Inn, serving fresh and locally caught seafood and bar meals throughout the day.
There is a local shop for all your necessities with a Post Office and petrol pump.
The Accommodation
Downstairs
A front entrance hallway with space for coats etc, a utility room with a washing machine and tumble drier and a cloakroom with WC.
A large and bright kitchen dining area (now incorporating the old sitting room) with a wood burning stove, wooden floor and wooden staircase leading to the upstairs bedrooms.
The kitchen is a modern cream Shaker style, extremely well equipped with ray burn and electric cooker, dishwasher, large American-style fridge-freezer, microwave etc.
Open plan, large sitting room with patio windows giving superb views across the Inner Sound to Raasay and Skye. A beautiful beamed ‘cathedral style’ ceiling and a wood-burning stove. The sitting room area is fully carpeted.
At the north end of the house you will find a hallway leading to a downstairs double bedroom with twin beds which can be zipped together to form a 5’ bed. Also a shower room with wash hand basin and W.C. (Stairs to owners private room).
Upstairs
There are a further three bedrooms upstairs, 1 double (5’ bed), 1 twin and 1 single. The windows in each bedroom have been enlarged, you can now lie in bed actually see the otters in the sea below (Honest!). There is a bathroom with shower and W.C. The upstairs is fully carpeted. Upstairs you will also find a cot, highchair and a stair gate.

Inverness – 80 miles, approx 2 hour drive.
Tigh Ruaraidh can be reached by the Bealach Na Ba (Pass of the Cattle) the highest road in Britain into Applecross then follow the coastal route to Sheildaig for 8 miles. If you are travelling from Sheildaig, follow the winding road for 40 minutes until you reach Tigh Ruaraidh.
