Testimonials

After the noise and overcrowding of the honeypot climbing areas in Aviemore and Fort William I would recommend the Torridon and Applecross area every time. What an adventure and made all the better for the wilderness and sense of 'specialness' that comes from being the only party on a route. Great learning, great guides, accommodation, food and of course the fantastic hospitality of the Applecross Inn for the essential apres climb.

Trip Description

If you want remote climbs, and peaceful days with no crowds, then the great expanses of the Torridon glens and corries offer a multitude of adventures. No queuing for climbs or sharing routes here.

In the great corries of mountains such as Liathach and Bein Eighe in Torridon, or the huge gullies and buttresses of An Teallach in Fisherfield, you’ll explore with a focus on rescue ropework, anchor placements and climbing techniques all of which feature heavily over the course of this trip. Learn and explore with one of our local guides and feel confident in a more technical and challenging environment.

Typical Itinerary

Day One - Ascent of Fuar Tholl and its high, wild corrie where a first day snowcraft session will allow development of vital movement & safety skills, namely: Ice axe arrest, crampon use, rope safety and avalanche awareness. This day will finish with an ascent to the summit of Fuar Tholl by its central buttress Grade III.

Day Two - Alpine ascent of the Northern Pinnacles grade III, Liathach, Torridon mountains.

Day Three - Ascent of George grade III, Coire Dubh Mhor, Liathach, Torridon mountains.

Day Four & Five - choice of routes in the Torridon, Kintail, Fannichs or Fisherfield ranges will be determined by weather & individual ability.

Please note: the above itinerary is a guide only as actual plans will be flexible to suit group & prevailing weather.
