Testimonials

"What a week! We are all absolutely shattered but exhilarated! I never knew my body had such adrenalin. Kayaking, rock climbing, lunching with the seals - what better way to spend you holiday. Fabulous instruction from Mike, great group, lovely food & accommodation. Thanks for a great holiday - will definitely be back & will recommend this to all my chums." Sarah Clark

"I had some kayaking experience but my partner had very little. We spent the first two days learning kayaking skills and learning the characteristics of the kayaks. Mike's instruction was great and it was good fun learning good solid paddle strokes which have helped me in my kayaking since. We opted for the fully inclusive option so had very nice lunches in the sun on the first two days. On the third day we were talked through expedition planning skills and given an introduction to tides, weather, equipment etc. Having packed all the required food, tents and kit into the kayaks we were off into the Sound. What followed were two nights and two full days on the water, camping out at some great spots. We were lucky enough to spot porpoises, whales and a couple of otters, the best sighting being an otter just before we finished the trip as we headed back to applecross. We were treated to great food, great landscapes and great company. I can fully recommend this company to anyone who wants to experience wilderness and a bit of adventure in a fantastic setting. I would also recommend this a a great holiday whether you are a solo traveller, couple or family with children. I will definitely be going on a trip in the future, hopefully on one of the longer trips to Canada" Chris Armstrong July 2013

"Five days of beautiful kayaking and wild camping
Stunning surroundings for an amazing five days of kayaking. Mike took us from beginners to paddling off for a three day excursion with a lot of patience and took a great deal of care teaching us the basics very thoroughly. He has exceptional knowledge about the local flora and fauna and even teaches broader concerns like expedition planning. The equipment and preparation were excellent and we had complete faith in Mike's leadership of the group at all times. Delicious local food and comfortable accommodation. The perfect break from busy city life!" Gabriel Lambert Aug 2017

Trip Description

The best beginner or improver Sea kayaking Scotland has to offer!

Visit secret coves and beaches known by our local instructors.

We’ll ease you in with some splashing about on Lochcarron covering all the basics on day one, including a short coastal trip.

On day two we’ll be able to develop your paddle skills with intermediate training and learning how to get back into your kayak if you end up in the drink - essential, confidence building skills.

For the next three days the weather will determine where we go on expedition and on day 3 we'll sit around the maps and decide on a wilderness camping expedition plan.

Typically we paddle around the Crowlin Islands, paddling along the wild Applecross shoreline to stay overnight at Uags point wild camp, the coral beach and maybe camping on one of the Islands eventually to return to Lochcarron or Loch Kishorn.

Wildlife is ever present on the coastal fringes and local Islands and if the weather is really good then we can cross the Inner Sound to the Isle of Raasay allowing us a chance to see Puffins, Whales, seasonal Dolphins, and the ever present Porpoises.

This trip also has a trip only option if you wish to stay on local campsites or anywhere else local to Lochcarron - Applecross and Shieldaig are within easy driving time to our kayak base in Lochcarron.

This is the best beginner/improver introduction to sea kayak expeditioning with time to train & learn properly, before the expedition, & enough time on the camping trip to experience some great sheltered paddling over the three days.

Shell & Maerl coral beaches, as well as soft Torridonian sandstone landing spots, make for a varied coastal experience.

With: Wilderness camping tent accommodation in the evenings during the expedition phase; homemade, fresh and local food; and the stunning Cuillin Ridge as a backdrop, this is an unforgettable trip and rightly our most popular experience in Scotland.
