Testimonials

"I'd read the excellent trip advisor reviews so was amazed when my already high expectations were surpassed. If you're thinking of trying sea kayaking then go with this company. I'd had two bad experiences with other outfits but was determined to persevere with my sea kayaking goals. It's hard to explain in short but everything everyone says is spot on - they are thorough, and work hard to enable each individual to enjoy sea kayaking at their own level. Such a good intro weekend and, looking at all the other trips that M&SG do, I am now totally confident to progress through some expeditions. The Inner Sound expedition next and then who knows. Thanks Mike and hope to join you in Lofoten or Canada." Peter Greaves June 2015

"we did this weekend with our 8 year old. Me in a tandem with the wee one and dad in a single kayak. What a great time we had and I have to say it was the best family activity we've ever done. Heartwarming to see the look on on my child's face when the seals were around us and had a lump in my throat when his Dad had the very same look. Thank you all for such expert care and enthusiasm and of course your patience" Sue Gibson May 2015

"our first visit to the Applecross peninsula and now we don't want to go anywhere else. Fantastic weekend. Great equipment, superb instruction and an unbelievably good kayaking location. Came away with lots of kayaking confidence but really didn't expect to have felt part of the community - everyone was so welcoming. This place has a genuine, local feel with lots of individuals working hard to make the peninsula a good place to live. All the businesses are run by local people who live here year round and this makes the difference. We will return to the Sanctuary again" R Williams Aug 2015

Trip Description

Learn to Sea Kayak in Scotland over two days in and around the beautiful Applecross peninsula.

These trips take place over any weekend in the summer and winter and are particularly popular on the bank holiday weekends.

We can also run the two days at any other time for groups of three or more.

So if you want to take part on any two day date then just email us and we'll see what's possible.

Find out what sea kayaking is all about - beaches, seals, otters and hidden treasures.

Of course the best thing about learning to kayak in Applecross is that you'll be paddling in one of the most scenic kayaking areas in Scotland and it also happens to be the most sheltered area too.

Applecross Bay is very shallow and sandy allowing a friendly environment for you to learn in and progress through the core paddling skills.

This means that you can enjoy the real benefits of kayaking while learning with confidence at the same time.

The two days will allow you to cover all the basic paddle skills and use them on a trip on the second day where you will be guided around the untouched islands and see the stunning beauty of the local area.

The aim of the trip is to build your confidence in kayaking and introduce you to the skills that will allow you to pursue kayaking further allowing you to join longer day trips or multi day kayak camping expeditions in the future.

Choose one of the options on the left and enjoy staying at the campsite, Hartfield Lodge Hostel or our local guest house.

Oh - and did we mention that everyone who works here lives here.

That means that we know the area better than anyone making the best use of your time and allowing an insight into this fantastic peninsula that is second to none.

So make the best use of your precious time and we look forward to seeing you this summer.

There's even some winter weekend dates which are great for blowing away the winter blues.

Wrap up warmer and enjoy the winter shoreline too.
