Trip Description

Sea kayaking around the Isle of Skye

Recently voted the 4th best island by National Geographic, take this opportunity to explore the natural beauty and grandure of Skye.To get the best out of the paddling week we initially base ourselves at Edinbane campsite allowing easy access to locations such as the beautiful Loch Dunvegan and awe inspiring North Skye. In the early part of the week time will be spent looking at paddle skills enabling you to learn some new stuff or polish up some rusty skills.

Towards the second half of this trip we’ll head to South Skye to camp at Sligachean campsite and paddle out to the Sound of Raasay and, probably the most spectacular paddling venue in Scotland, Loch Scavaig & the Cuillin Ridge. Being mobile each day, with mini bus and kayak trailer, we can choose the most sheltered locations to paddle while experiencing the best that Skye has to offer.

In all of our sea kayaking experience across the globe we can honesty say that there is not a single location with the variety that the Isle of Skye has to offer - genuinely a trip not to miss.

Typical Itinerary

Sunday: Your travel day - get to Portree, Kyle of Lochalsh, Strathcarron or Loch Carron for Sunday night ready for pick up on Monday morning. Rail connections and bus available to all locations - see Scotrail or Scottish Citylink.

Explore the small Island of Isay & its nearby coral beach from the village of Stein.

Tuesday: Head to the North tip of Skye for the day to either Rubha Hunish or Kilmaluag Bay and the Flodigarry sea cliffs. Second night at Edinbane.

Suitable For

Anyone with good fitness (regular upper body exercise pre-trip essential!) wanting to experience some varied sea kayaking on day tours. Not for complete beginners as this is essentially a turn up and start paddling trip. Instruction will be offered each day so all you need is reasonable paddle knowledge and the ability to use a paddle and perform all the basic strokes.
